Last week, world famous artist Banksy attempted to sell his original work for the low price of $60 each on the streets of New York. After sitting out for hours, only a few paintings were sold, but the subsequent video went viral garnering over 5 million views.
Since then, the media has been all over Banksy, hyping up the artist.
Now, author and hoax artist David Cicirelli has finished Banksy’s critique and commentary on consumerism and the value of art by recreating the entire first art sale in the exact same spot.
In just an hour, all of his fakes, which were clearly labelled as such, were sold out as New Yorkers jumped on the hype bandwagon.
