Homelessness has become a serious issue in America, especially since the Great Recession of 2008. Sadly, besides for the pizza, Broadway shows, and the Yankees, New York City is also famous for their homeless. Though the numbers are difficult to document, it is estimated that the homeless population in the Big Apple is over 50,000.
To see if the homeless have become invisible to most people, charity group New York Rescue Mission conducted this powerful social experiment to see if people would recognize their own relatives if they were dressed as a homeless person on the streets. The results are devastating.
