Soul Eater was one of the celebrated shonen anime series that ran from April 2008 to March 2009. It was created by Atsushi Ōkubo as a manga published on Monthly Shonen Gangnam and was later picked up by Bones Studio.
The Soul Eater anime only had 51 episodes before it ended, rather quickly. So far, there is no news of whether there would be another season. What is Soul Eater?
Soul Eater tells the story of MakaAlbarn, the daughter of a powerful but womanizer father, Spirit Albarn. A two-star Meister, she is determined to surpass her father’s power by making her weapon into a death Scythe.
In this alternate world, humans can turn into weapons. In this case, Maka’s weapon is Soul Evans, who also wants to be the Death Scythe. But to do so, they need to collect the souls of 99 tainted humans and one witch.
They both attend the Death Weapon Meister Academy, which is being managed by Lord Death. Those who watched Bleach would be familiar with the concept of the Reaper. All the Meisters prepare for the return of the Demon God or Kishin.
The Demon God nearly wiped out humankind and destroyed the world once. But he is determined to come back and finish the job. It is now up to Maka, Soul, and their friends to save the world.
I Also Heard About Soul Eater Not! How is it Different From Soul Eater?
Soul Eater Not! is a spinoff of the Soul Eater Anime, according to Fandom. The setting takes place about a year prior to the events at the academy. It starts with TsugumiHarudori, who discovers that she has the power to turn into a weapon.
Unfortunately, it did not last long due to poor ratings in Japan. Bones Studio had to cancel the series after 14 episodes. Even if it has a large following in North America and elsewhere, studios still based their decisions on how the Japanese market responds to the anime.
Are There More Episodes?
There have been rumors about another season for Soul Eater anime. Unfortunately, none of them could be verified. It has been a long time since 2009, and even hardcore fans of the original series have moved on to the other titles.

Is the Anime Similar to the Manga?
For the most part, the Soul Eater anime followed the arc of the shonen manga, at least during the early part. However, you can spot the changes starting with Chapter 23. The changes are subtle enough that you can still notice the similarities. It would not be until Chapter 36 when the anime fully diverges paths from the source material.
It is recommended that you watch the anime and also read the manga if only to compare the similarities and differences between the two in terms of their treatment of characters.
